AFP-Missouri Calls for Tax Reform in Special Legislative Session
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – As the state legislature reconvenes for a special session today, Americans for Prosperity-Missouri (AFP-MO) called on lawmakers to prioritize tax relief for Missouri families and send a tax reform bill to the governor’s desk as soon as possible.
During the State of the State address in January, Governor Kehoe laid out a vision to develop a comprehensive plan to eliminate the state income tax. AFP-MO believes it is critical for Missourians to get some relief during this calendar year. This special session is the legislature’s last chance to make significant progress toward that goal.
AFP-MO State Director, Gary Hollis, gave the following statement:
“As Missouri’s premier grassroots organization, nobody has been a bigger advocate for the governor’s tax reform efforts than AFP-MO. As lawmakers return to the capital, we urge them to prioritize tax relief for hardworking Missouri families and put our state on a path toward zero income taxes.
“With many of our neighboring states making significant progress toward reducing and eliminating their income taxes, it’s critical that Missouri get on board so that our state remains competitive and becomes an even more desirable place to start a business or raise a family.”
